Gardeners’ Question Time in aid of Poyntington Village Hall

Added on 11 February 2008

Garden lovers with a sick plant or thorny question need to book their place for the Gardeners' Question Time event being held on Thursday, February 28th at The Butterfly House at Castle Gardens, Sherborne. The event, which has been organised to help the village of Poyntington to raise funds towards the restoration of its village hall, will take place at 7.00pm and the panel of experts will be ready for questions from the audience at 7.30pm.

The panel will include; Pam Lewis, creator of the superb Sticky Wicket Wildlife Garden at Buckland Newton, Zac Graham (from the South West branch of The Institute of Horticultural Governance), and a knowledgeable trio from The Gardens Group including; Mike Burks, who will chair the panel of experts, Brian King who will be a familiar face as he is the assistant manager of Castle Gardens, and James Foster-Pegg who designed medal winning gardens at both RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows.

"We are aiming to have 100 people at this event so that we can add a substantial sum to the Poyntington Village Hall Restoration Appeal so we hope that plenty of people will come along and bring a difficult question or two! It is always good to be challenged and my experience of these events is that they are highly amusing as the panellists tend to have very strong opinions! We're pleased to have Pam Lewis and Zac Graham on the panel as they are both extremely well respected gardeners who offer sound, practical advice," said Mike Burks.

Tickets for the event, which also includes a buffet supper which will be served in the Walled Garden restaurant, cost £7.50 and they are available from Castle Gardens, Sherborne (01935 814633) or Jill Oliver (01963 220637) or Venetia Foster (01963 210479).
